Frequently Asked Questions.

We will always be happy to answer your questions but there are some which we are always being asked so here are the answers:

Do we have to meet you to book you?
No you don’t have to, but we always find it better to get together prior to the wedding to discuss what is required. We are aware that busy lifestyles and travelling distances sometimes make this impractical so if needs be these discussions can take place via email or telephone prior to the wedding.

What areas do you cover?
The Reading and Wokingham areas of Berkshire and surrounding areas. We don’t really cover anywhere else in the UK and definitely not outside the UK. We’d rather be taking pictures or working on albums than spending our time travelling.

How do we book you?
Once you have decided on Artography for your wedding photography please contact us and we will reserve you wedding day. We will then send you our standard booking contract and will ask for the booking fee to be paid. On receipt of the booking fee your date will be booked into our diary.

When do we pay you?
We take a £200.00 booking fee to book the day which is payable when you complete our paperwork. The balance is due 30 days prior to your wedding. Additional orders for prints, parent’s albums, extra DVD’s are payable with order.

Do you do more than one wedding a day?
No. We never shoot more than one wedding in a day - it simply isn’t possible!

Do you visit the wedding locations before the day?
Yes - I’m a professional coward I will always scout out the locations before the day so I know where I’m going, the distances and travelling times. This is just so I’m sure I know where I’m going and what I’m likely to find when I get there!

How long do you stay at the wedding for?
The simple answer is: Until we’ve finished! Of course that depends on which package you book and to an extent, what kind of event you are planning. Normal coverage is between 4 and 6 hours. But if you want longer (or shorter) we can adapt.

Do you photograph the actual ceremony?
This is all dependent on the registrar or priest conducting the ceremony. Some are very good and will work with us to allow us to capture your special moment, some ban photographers from taking pictures inside their churches during any part of the ceremony. (Normally we can get pictures of the signing of the register).

Will you photograph everyone?
We will certainly try but if time is short or any particular person in hides away, it is possible they will get missed. Therefore it is important that if there are any people who simply must be photographed you either make sure that you request a formal shot with them in or assign an usher to point them out to us for special attention.

What would be your standard group photographs?
We would photograph the bridal party (bridesmaids and ushers and the bride and groom), both sets of parents separately and together in whatever format they may take, shoot one family and then the other family and the rest is up to you. Often that would be all, but we are sometimes asked to photograph grandparents, friends and so on, all with the bride and groom. It really is up to you, we will try to include some fun shots as well to keep the atmosphere light! We know most people aren’t keen on being in group pictures but we also know Mums and Grans like them! We also take some time out to photograph the bride and groom away from the madding crowd as well.

How many pictures do you take?
No idea! We don’t count them, with digital cameras and the amount of spare memory cards we carry there is no restriction other that those placed on us by time and weather and all those other things we have no control over. We are more interested in capturing the spirit of the day to a high standard rather than worrying about the number of clicks.

Do you shoot with film?
Not anymore, these days the cost is prohibitive. Shooting digital is easier on the day but much harder work and consumes hours of my life in front of a computer screen afterwards! However it is better for the client, we can provide online web galleries much easier than with film, we can do, if requested, special digital effects and much more.

How quickly will the pictures be ready?
The pictures will normally be ready with 4-6 days from the date of the wedding, sometimes quicker. Once ready these pictures will be uploaded to a website for you and your guests to look at. Printed proofs will normally be available within 14 days.

Can we get a DVD of all the pictures?
Yes. A disk with everything on it at high resolution and "Permission to Print" (for personal use) is included in all our packages, second copies are available for £20.

Do we get all the pictures?
On the disk: Yes - well ok maybe not the ones of the boot of my car while I was testing the camera! But if you really want them - you are more than welcome!

What are art books / story books?
Storybook albums are whole page photographs of your wedding, these layouts can be designed to your particular style.

Backup Equipment / Lighting?
We carry backup equipment for everything we use this includes backup cameras, lenses and flash equipment. We also carry full studio flash equipment (but as yet we have never had use it at a wedding).

Do you accept Credit Cards?
Sort of! If push comes to shove we can accept credit cards via Paypal but we don’t have “proper” credit card facilities.
